Ice Age Wiki

Notice: I have unfortunate news to share from Blue Sky Studios, the creators of Ice Age. As all are aware, Blue Sky Studios was acquired by 20th Century Fox and later Fox was acquired by Disney. The Studios is being shutdown by Disney. I have submitted a request with Spongebob456 to transform this wiki into an archive for the purpose of safeguarding the content.

Scrat's Continental Crack-Up: Part 2 is an animated short in the Ice Age franchise produced by Blue Sky Studios. A sequel to Scrat’s Continental Crack-Up, it also serves as a teaser for Ice Age: Continental Drift. The short premiered in theaters alongside Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked on December 16, 2011, following an earlier release on iTunes Trailers on November 16, 2011. It was later re-released with the 3D reissue of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace on February 10, 2012.

Plot[]

Set during the events of the main film, Scrat is still drifting on his ice floe when he spots an island in the distance. He rows over and collapses at the base of a coconut tree to rest. Suddenly, he's startled by the skeleton of another saber-toothed squirrel. Noticing that the skeleton appears to be pointing toward the water, Scrat investigates. He peers underwater and spots an acorn buried on the ocean floor. Thrilled, Scrat quickly forms a plan: he grabs a rock and jumps into the water, using the extra weight to sink faster. As he descends, the crushing pressure causes his body to stretch thin, and he even loses his nose along the way. When he reaches the bottom, Scrat pulls the acorn free, only to discover it's just half of an acorn shell. Disappointed at first, he turns it over and realizes the inside contains a map pointing to an island filled with acorns.

Scrat gasps in excitement, briefly forgetting he's underwater, but manages to survive by inhaling an air bubble he accidentally released. He sets off in search of the island, only for a marlin skeleton to suddenly latch onto the acorn map and yank it away. Scrat clings on as he's dragged wildly through seaweed, past a salmon and a crab. He's then pulled out of the water and slammed onto the bow of a pirate ship, where he's hauled onto the deck.

The marlin skeleton is revealed to be the anchor of an ice floe used as a ship by the evil Captain Gutt and his pirate crew. They sarcastically welcome Scrat aboard before forcing him to perform as target practice. Manny, Sid, and Diego are revealed to also be held captive on the ship. Sid remarks that at least this cruise has entertainment, prompting Manny to respond that Sid is out of his mind as the short ends.

Voice cast[]

Goofs[]

  • Although Dennis Leary is credited, Diego has no lines in this short.
  • The short depicts Manny, Sid, Diego, and Scrat being held captive on Captain Gutt’s ship under a blue sky, whereas in the actual film the scene takes place at sunset.
