Ice Age Wiki

Notice: I have unfortunate news to share from Blue Sky Studios, the creators of Ice Age. As all are aware, Blue Sky Studios was acquired by 20th Century Fox and later Fox was acquired by Disney. The Studios is being shutdown by Disney. I have submitted a request with Spongebob456 to transform this wiki into an archive for the purpose of safeguarding the content.

Ice Age: Boiling Point is an upcoming American computer-animated adventure comedy film produced by 20th Century Animation and distributed by 20th Century Studios. It will serve as a sequel to Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), the sixth main installment, and the seventh overall installment in the Ice Age series.

It will be the first theatrical Ice Age film not to be produced by Blue Sky Studios, following its closure on April 7, 2021.

Ice Age: Boiling Point is scheduled to be released in the United States on February 5, 2027.

Synopsis[]

Deadline reported that the film will be "a dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure that takes Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat and the rest of the herd to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World."[2]

Production[]

While promoting The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, the Disney+ PR page revealed that another Ice Age movie is in development at 20th Century Animation (however it is also possible this may be a separate film, as it is mentioned as being a streaming movie for Disney+). In September 2024, while making a guest appearance on the Wait Wait… Don't Tell Me! podcast, John Leguizamo (voice actor of Sid the Sloth) suggested that a sixth main Ice Age film could be in development.

On November 8, 2024 it was officially revealed by Disney that Ice Age 6 is in the works and the main cast consisting of Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie and Buck would be returning with a release date set for December 18, 2026.[3] Scrat and Baby Scrat are also slated to return (though it is currently unknown if Chris Wedge will reprise his role as Scrat, as he now works at Annapurna Animation).[4][5]

On August 30, 2025, the title was revealed at Destination D23.[6] with the release date being pushed back from December 18, 2026 to February 5, 2027 to avoid competition with Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three.

On October 23, 2025, Sean William Scott confirmed he wasn't involved with the movie, and jokingly suggested that they might kill Crash off, stating the movie didn't need Crash and Eddie.[7]

Trivia[]

  • This is the first theatrical Ice Age film to not be disturbed by Blue Sky Studios due to the shutdown of the studio in April 2021.
  • This is the first theatrical Ice Age film to not be released in March or July.
  • This film will be presumably released on the 25th anniversary of the original Ice Age in 2002 and on the 15th anniversary of 2012's Ice Age: Continental Drift.
  • This will be the first 20th Century Studios animated film to get a theatrical release since The Bob's Burgers Movie in 2022.
  • It is unknown whether Chris Wedge will return to presumably voice Scrat or not, considering he is now working at Annapurna Animation which had revived Nimona (2023) after it had been initially cancelled following the closure of Blue Sky Studios.
  • Ice Age is the second computer-animated film franchise to become a hexalogy, but some could make the argument that the franchise was already a hexalogy because of The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, but seeing as that was a straight-to-streaming spin-off feature, it technically wouldn't count.
