Ice Age Adventure was a water dark ride at the German amusement park Movie Park Germany. At the end of 2016, the closure of the attraction was announced due to an expired license. It was opened in 1996 with a former Looney Tunes theme (Looney Tunes Adventure) and later re-themed as a consequence of the Warner license losses.
In this water ride, you drove through some scenes with the well-known Ice Age characters. These were not directly based on the films, but told their own story of a volcanic eruption in the valley. The original German dubbing voices around Otto Waalkes and others could not be used. In small boats with about 12 to 14 seats you drove through the scenes and down a descent. The attraction was closed in 2016 after several broken figures and peeling paint. The whereabouts of the scenes, some animatronics and the hall are unknown. The tent of the waiting area is still there and has been used as a picnic area since the start of the 2017 season. Some well-preserved animatronics have also been in the Roxy 4D cinema since the beginning of the 2017 season, alongside old exhibits from the former Hollywood film museum.
Since the 2017 season, former attraction boats have been used in another Intamin attraction in the park. This facility is Area 51 – Top Secret. Belly bars were added to the boats to meet safety standards. The boats in the Ice Age Adventure attraction are distinguished from the other boats in Area 51 – Top Secret by the different wood panelling. In addition, they do not have any lettering like their comparison objects.
The reason for the relocation of the boats was that the park wanted to achieve a higher capacity of Area 51 – Top Secret. The fact that the attraction has not been operational since the end of the 2016 season was also a key aspect of the relocation.
Since the 2018 season, the hall of the former attraction, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Halloween event ("HALLOWEEN HORROR FESTIVAL"), was rethemed for the maze Wrong Turn based on the film production of the same name, from 2003. The old tent, which was equipped with cars from the Streets Of New York theme areas or the former Marienhof, was used as the waiting area for the maze. The existing forest scenery was supplemented by a gas station, ranger office and hotel. Special features of this maze were that you could walk through the former fairway with an externally controlled LED gas lamp.
In addition, animatronics from the former Ice Age Adventure attraction were used in the outdoor maze Circus of Freaks.
In 2021, the MultiDimensionCoaster MovieParkStudios from Intamin opened its doors in the same hall.
